Morrison Hotel

  • Seattle, WA

Completed: 2020

We are honored to have the opportunity to work with the Downtown Emergency Services Center on a variety of their buildings, and helping them find durable and value conscious solutions for the design and maintenance of their buildings is part of how we aim to use our work to Empower Others.

The Morrison Hotel is a unique building. Constructed in 1908, the hotel was originally home to the Arctic Club – a social club for people returning from the Klondike Gold Rush. Today, the Morrison Hotel serves an essential role as a homeless shelter in downtown Seattle and provides much needed services to disabled homeless adults.

We first got involved with the Morrison Hotel as part of a team to provide a capital needs assessment – identifying and prioritizing needed repairs and renewals to help DESC plan out the future for their building. One item in need was a replacement of the roof, so we worked with DESC during the roof replacement process to help balance a durable solution with a reasonable construction cost.
