John Fox Place

March 11, 2024, DJC

“John Fox Place is a new transit-oriented affordable apartment building on Aurora Avenue North, in the Licton Springs neighborhood just north of Green Lake.

The community has 104 units for families and individuals at or below 50% or 60% of area median income.

Amenity spaces include a community room with kitchen and computer station, a classroom, a top-floor terrace rooftop deck, and an at-grade landscaped courtyard with a children’s play area.

The building is named for John V. Fox, a long-time advocate for affordable housing and a leader of the Seattle Displacement Coalition.

The project site was formerly a parking lot and the location of a tiny house village, operated by the Low Income Housing Institute.”

Compass to build 164 Capitol Hill units for Continental

March 22, 2024, DJC

“One last design review will come next month for Continental Properties’ 164-unit apartment plan at 1661 E. Olive Way on Capitol Hill. Architect MG2 is designing the seven- to eight-story building (on a sloping site), with Compass Construction newly attached as the builder.

The project will replace a few old structures on a rectangular site also bounded by Boylston and Belmont avenues East. A demolition permit is now in process. The unnamed project includes 112 underground parking stalls and 2,862 square feet of retail/commercial space. The latter, in two bays, will go on the prominent north corners facing Olive. Tenants will also have 158 bike stalls.”
