Venture to build 206 units at St. Luke’s Ballard home

“There are two components, east and west, to the long-planned redevelopment of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church property, next to Ballard Commons Park. The two new apartment buildings, one with space for the church, will proceed in phases.”

Trent opens 206 Rainier Valley units to renters

“Now the 206-unit Hilite apartments, from Trent Development, have begun leasing. The temporary certificate of occupancy for the building’s north wing came last week.

A TCO should soon follow for the south wing. They’re separated by an entry courtyard facing Rainier, connected overhead with bright yellow beams — originally to be open-air walkways, now just decorative elements. There’s also a smaller east wing.”

High Street opens 139 Roosevelt units near station

“The Corner 63 apartments, from High Street Residential, are now open and leasing. The certificate of occupancy came last month for the seven-story, 139-unit project at 6300 Ninth Ave. N.E. That’s less than two blocks south of Roosevelt Station; and the Green Lake Park & Ride and Whole Foods are also steps away.”

Construction starts today on 148-unit workforce housing building in Rainier Valley

“Today marks the official groundbreaking for a new workforce housing building at 7544 Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. in Rainier Valley, just south of Othello Station.

The Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) is developing the project, which is called MLK Family Housing. The new construction multifamily building will be six stories and provide 148 units of affordable housing for both families and individuals.”

New murals at 13th & Fir Apartments

“A trio of distinctive murals were recently completed at the 13th & Fir Apartments near Yesler Terrace.

Designed and created by the Community Rejuvenation Project, Prophecy depicts indigenous peoples riding canoes led by orca whales and sea life.

The piece refers to Chief Seattle’s prediction for rising waters to eventually overtake buildings, or a prayer for the return of the land to its original inhabitants.”

41 affordable units planned on Vashon. Yes, Vashon

“On Vashon Island, the Upland Mobile Home Park sold back in 2005 to a local investor. Plans emerged a decade later for the owner and developers Shelter America Group and Shelter Resources to create an affordable housing complex on the over 7-acre property.”

Construction to begin on 235-unit affordable housing project at King County Metro Northgate site

“King County Executive Dow Constantine announced today the start of construction on a 235-unit affordable housing project at King County Metro’s Northgate property after financing and permits are finalized this month.

The housing project is part of King County’s ongoing and successful transit-oriented development program. At Northgate Station, residents can easily access Sound Transit Link light rail 1 Line service and 21 local and regional bus routes operated by King County Metro, Community Transit, and Sound Transit.”

Ground broken on new community resource center in Skyway

“Ground was broken Jan. 18 on a new community resource center in Skyway. The milestone came after years of planning for the project, called the Skyway Resource Center, which will transform a former U.S. Bank branch into a centralized hub for community services and local nonprofits, bringing much needed resources and new public space for the residents of Skyway.

It will soon be the new home to more than a dozen nonprofit, public and community-based organizations providing a comprehensive array of services that include educational, gathering, job finding, and health support.”

“The Seattle Fire Department held a ground-breaking ceremony Monday for the new Fire Station 31, at 11302 Meridian Ave. N. in the Northgate neighborhood. It will replace the old station at 1319 N. Northgate Way, which was closed in 2019 due to unhealthy building conditions and obsolescence.”

The project team used a collaborative cost-efficient design and construction approach. This included the careful layout of walls and units that minimized sheetrock waste and finishing.”
