SFD breaks ground on $27M fire station in Northgate area

Feb 7 2024, DJC

“The Seattle Fire Department held a ground-breaking ceremony Monday for the new Fire Station 31, at 11302 Meridian Ave. N. in the Northgate neighborhood. It will replace the old station at 1319 N. Northgate Way, which was closed in 2019 due to unhealthy building conditions and obsolescence.

The station will house a fire engine, ladder truck, medic unit and aid unit. There also will be space for a Health One unit — a program designed to respond to individuals immediately in their moment of need to help them navigate the situation, whether that’s medical care, mental health care, shelter or other social services.”

One Trent opens more apartment buildings in Bellingham and Tacoma

Feb 27, 2024, DJC

“As the DJC reported last month, One Trent recently opened its 206-unit Hilite in the upper Rainier Valley, near Seattle Goodwill and walkable to the future Judkins Park Station. The developer recently announced that apartment building’s debut, along with two other multifamily projects that have now opened in Bellingham and Tacoma. All three sites are in federally tax favored Opportunity Zones.

Kerf is walkable to Western Washington University, and tenants also have 150 parking stalls, some with EV charging. Units range from studios to townhouse-style apartments, with rents in a range from $1,500 to $3,200 per month. About 3,400 square feet of retail is also included.”
