Mixed-use apartment building in Kirkland is LEED Platinum
Apr 03 2023, DJC
“Boardwalk Kirkland, a seven-story, 171-unit luxury apartment building at 434 Kirkland Way, is officially LEED Platinum certified. The project, which is developed and owned by MRM Kirkland, opened in 2021.
The certification honors the design team and project architect Baylis Architects’ commitment to creating a building that supports both occupant and environmental health. Baylis describes Boardwalk as a tribute to Kirkland’s lakeside location designed to create an engaging pedestrian experience. It is around a half-mile walk from the waterfront.”

“Mt. Baker Housing Association, architect Mithun and W.G. Clark Construction began working above grade on The Maddux in early 2021. That two-building affordable housing project earned its temporary certificates of occupancy during January and February of this year, and the leasing site is now live. The official opening ceremony was on March 17. The state Department of Ecology — which greatly assisted the prior environmental cleanup — is now featuring the project on its blog.”

“Mostly hidden from view from motorists passing through Eastlake, Saco Construction has topped out on a 103-unit apartment project at 3150 Fairview Ave. E. Down the slope toward Lake Union, most of the old Ross Labs office complex was removed in 2021; actual construction began that fall. Shilshole Development received its master use permit for the five-story building, designed by Public47 Architects, around the time of Christmas 2020.”
